Merana Aboriginal Community Association for Hawkesbury INC.

A safe place for mob — across all ages, all stories, and all journeys.

Merana is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation based in the Hawkesbury, built by mob — for mob. Since 1993, we’ve walked beside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, young people, and Elders through every part of life’s journey.

We’re not here to tick boxes. We’re here to show up, to support, to connect, and to create spaces where our people feel seen, safe, and strong in who they are.

We honour culture. We centre community.
Everything we do — whether it’s playgroup, men’s group, cultural support, or a yarn in the office — is led by values, not systems.

We’re grounded in:

  • Cultural safety

  • Self-determination

  • Strengths-based, family-focused care

  • Connection across generations

Our Vision, Legacy & Promise.

To see our people strong in culture, confident in identity, and connected to community — across every generation.

We’re building a legacy where no one gets left behind, and every mob feels they have a place to go, a voice to use, and a community to lean on.

Merana has been walking with community for over 30 years — and we’re not going anywhere. If you or someone you love needs support, a yarn, or a place to start again, we’re here. Always.
